Elementary (SD) School Program
Our IB-inspired elementary school program combines the California state learning standards with the best teaching and learning practices from all over the world. At Rainbow, our teachers utilize inquiry-driven lessons to teach our students the 21st-century skills they will need to be successful in Indonesia and beyond. Our students work towards mastery of the same learning standards that students master in California, many other U.S. states, and international schools around the world.
Students will develop:

Elementary Subject Areas
Language Arts, in English and Indonesian, consists of 3 main areas:
- Speaking & Listening to collaborate and communicate: speeches, presentations, performances, and discussions...
- Reading for understanding: novels, essays, poems, short stories, plays...
- Writing to express: persuasive stories, poems, letters, reports...
Mathematics consists of 4 main areas:
- Operations and Algebraic Thinking: represent and solve problems, develop operational foundations
- Number and Operations: perform operations using place value, decimals, and fractions
- Measurement and Data: represent and interpret data
- Geometry: shapes, properties, coordinate plane
Science is composed of 4 main disciplines:
- Physical Science: matter, motion, energy, and waves
- Life Science: from molecules to organisms, ecosystems, and biological heredity
- Earth and Space Systems: astronomy, Earth's systems, and Earth and human activity
- Engineering and Design: apply the design process to solve real-world problems
Social Studies/PKn consists of 6 main areas of study:
- History: Why is knowing about the past important?
- Connections and Conflict: Why do groups of people and have conflict?
- Geography: Why does someone's physical environment matter?
- Culture: How do different cultures affect people differently?
- Society and the Individual: How are a society's values and beliefs developed?
- Government: How does government affect people's lives?
- Economics: Why do people buy what they do?
- Technology: How do new technologies change the way people live and think?
Students will have an opportunity to engage in a wide variety of Co-curricular Activities:
Sports, Arts, Cooking, Academic Competitions, and other opportunities to explore students' interests
