Early Years Programs
Preschool Program
Our Montessori-inspired curriculum, combined with the California state learning standards, focuses on hands-on learning, where children will use their senses of touch, sight, and sound to better understand the world around them. Our learning materials are designed for learners to actively engage in the learning process, and our teaching practices enable students to be independent learners.

Rainbow’s young learners are introduced to the sights, sounds, and touch of Language, in both English and Indonesian. Through hands-on learning and play, students are immersed in a rich environment of languages to build their early listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
In Math, preschool students will develop their number concepts, knowledge of shapes, categorized counting, and problem-solving skills.
In the Arts, they will also engage in craft-making, visual arts, drama, music, and dance.
Along with the Arts, Physical Education is an essential part of the program, and students will practice yoga, physical exercises, and creative movement.
Schedules
Students aged 1.5 - 3 years start at 9:00 and finish at 11:45.
Students aged 3 - 4 years old start at 8:00 and finish at 10:45.
In Math, preschool students will develop their number concepts, knowledge of shapes, categorized counting, and problem-solving skills.
In the Arts, they will also engage in craft-making, visual arts, drama, music, and dance.
Along with the Arts, Physical Education is an essential part of the program, and students will practice yoga, physical exercises, and creative movement.
Schedules
Students aged 1.5 - 3 years start at 9:00 and finish at 11:45.
Students aged 3 - 4 years old start at 8:00 and finish at 10:45.
Kindergarten Program
In English and Indonesian Language classes our Kindergarten students build on their Early Years reading skills by focusing on sound-letter relationships and recognizing and reading common words.
Kindergartners will listen to and read books with a teacher, as well as start reading their own books and building a list of their favorite stories and things to learn about.
Kindergarten students will also complete their first writing pieces, writing short poems, stories, and informative and persuasive pieces. They will also engage in dramatic plays and sing songs to further immerse themselves in a language-rich environment.
In Math, Kindergartners will further their understanding of number concepts by increasing their range of counting, skip-counting, and solving addition and subtraction problems. They will also create and solve problems with shapes and explore geometric properties and measure and solve measuring problems. Kindergarten students will also collect and manage data, as well as create and solve story problems.
Kindergarten Science involves observation and engagement in hands-on investigations and experiments to learn about the physical world. Students will study Motion, Energy, Living Things, Weather, Earth, and Engineering/Design. They will study diverse topics from the forces of pulling and pushing to different types of weather around the world.
In Social Studies, Kindergarten students will explore Geography, History, Social Relationships, local and international cultures, and Economics. They will create maps and learn about dances all over the world, as well as local and international history.
The Arts include Visual Arts, Drama, Dance, and Music. Kindergartners will learn about the four areas of art as they work towards creating their own paintings and drawings, dramatic presentations, dances, and musical pieces.
To further develop young bodies and spirits, Kindergarten students will practice swimming, yoga, endurance and stretching exercises, and movement skills in Physical Education classes.
Our Preschool and Kindergarten programs are designed to capture the joy of learning and help young learners thrive as they move into the elementary years.

Rainbow - School of Joy has adopted the California state learning standards. Our students work towards the same learning goals as American students in the state of California. Our teachers use many of the same teaching methods and learning materials as used in the United States, combined with the best of Indonesian learning tools and techniques.
